    Artist History
Old Marsh started out in 1996 as a five-piece party band out of Bristol CT. The band was originally called Co-Ho and included singer Benn Gawitt, guitarist Rich Lasky, guitarist Mike Duval, bassist Frank Dimeteo, and drummer Jay Vigue. The Name OLD MARSH was an idea to call the band but became official one afternoon after members of the band got in trouble with the law, fishing in the Old Marsh reservoir. The name Old Marsh stuck ever since. Playing mostly PJ-Zeppelin-covers and sneaking in the occasional original song, they found themselves doing gigs at college parties and a handful of local bars. As their following grew the OM became popular up at UCONN and landed an opening act spot for De La Soul and Letters to Cleo. After three years the group took a break due to conflicting interest. For the next year, Benn and Rich kept in touch and continued to write songs in preparation for Old Marshs return. Feb 2000 marked the OMs return at the Downtown Café in Bristol, CT with new members Jeremy Robotham playing bass and Jay McCarthy on drums. The new band took things very seriously and won a battle of the bands competion that spring using the prize money for their first demo album that contained a couple of cover songs and original songs Singing Man, Im, and Anymore. Following the events of 9/11 the OM hosted a benefit show with members from Derik & the Funbags and a couple of other area bands and raised $8,000 for NY City firefighters. That show marked a new beginning, a new motivation, but also a setback for the band as bassist Jeremy Robotham was activated to the US Air Force shortly after. Old Marsh continued to gig that following year with the help of guitar player Fred Dotson and singer Michael Kindelan both filling in on bass. Feb 2002 marked the CD release of the bands full-length studio album Freshwater. Jeremy returned from the Air Force October 2002 and now the band is back in full force. At this time the Marsh is putting together their second album and thinking about the possibility of an east coast tour in the near future. Over the years Old Marsh has developed into one of CT top cover/original bands, and can be found performing almost every weekend all over New England. --In this day and age we live in a world that doesnt make sense but our contribution to our time is keeping Rock & Roll alive for the spirits of Americans, our friends, and most importantly our fans for years to come! -OM 2002-
