Artist History
Well it started off with a bunch of friends, most of whom were involved in different bands [Matt and Tim were in a death metal band called Prayer and Don was in a punk band called Nailed / Seventh Breed]. We all left our previous bands due to a differences in musical taste. We wanted to have more of a hardcore sound to our music so we hooked up and formed Neshamah. Jen met Matt and they hooked up relationship wise, then our previous bassist [Dylan] left. We didn't, at that stage, want to introduce any new / unknown quantities to the band, thus we considered becoming a three piece [Matt was gonna do bass too] but Jen had always expressed a desire to play bass so we reckoned it was a brilliant idea to get Jen involved and leave Matt to focus soley on vocals, and what a plan that was!Neshamah had been around for about two years now and been gigging for about a year [our first gig being on the 14/03/1999], but we've had two previous bassists [De Wet and Dylan]. Jen is our third, she joined around 01/10/1999 and also picked up the bass for the first time then!Tim and Don both left Neshamah shortly after we put out our first disc: "the grass withers, and it's flowers fade" around 01/06/2000. That's when Justin and Juan stepped in to replace them. |
