Artist History
The songs! the songs! the songs!. There are so many of them in the INFINITELY INDEXED MEMORY BANK! Actually it's a bloke called Tony Davies, on Guitar, vocals and sequencing with long time freind, wife and travelling companion, Robin on Keyboards and vocals. In the "Let's all spit at the band" days in the seaside town of Bournemouth, England, Tony was dodging flying objects and abuse with Drummer Pete Evans in THE SWITCH. Pete later went on to become a founding member of the HOUSE OF LOVE. Hot on THE SWITCH's heels the aptly named 'SURVIVORS' were busy trying to do just that, having all re-located to London. That band split up after the drummer, (Tony's brother) shagged the Bass player's girlfriend. It was then that Tony realized what had been apparent all along. Anything can happen to cause a band to split up and it's frequently nothing to do with the music. Therefore, since that time Tony has toyed with, dreamed of, and postulated about the idea of programming a virtualband where no such problems exist. It wasn't until Tony and Robin moved to Tucson after some extensive budget traveling to exotic and smelly countries, and a brief stint in LA that any attempt at forming a band was considered. In fact it was considered three times during the last seven years and as each incarnation faltered Tony's conviction to continue with a virtual band strengthened. In February 2000 THE INFINITELY INDEXED MEMORY BANK was finally formed. This time Tony took no chances in the choice of line up! No limits are now set on the burgeoning roster of songs accumulated over the last ten years. I.I.M.B. feels compelled to relay these songs to as many conscious people as they can reach throughout the world. Save the Planet! |

Press Reviews
"A fine set of British-styled rock from Tony and Robin Davies, whose eponymous three-song demo caught my ear a few months ago. The Infinitely Indexed Memory Bank is the predecessor to that tape and its 15 songs give us a satisfying survey of the Davies' oevre. Quite a few enjoyable songs here: "Mr. Blue" evokes The Damned with it's "stab that shit around" refrain (I hope I got that right), and "The 17th Breakdown" (a precursor to Jagger/Richards' 19th?) is both pleasantly spacey and catchy. Fans of Bush (the band, not the candidate) might appreciate the Bank, although Tony's recording budget (and lack of a proper band) deprives him of the gut-shaking crunch that the kids love so much these days. All around an enjoyable effort, although I do wish Tony would foreswear that peculiar growl he slips into occasionally, most regrettably in "The Senseless Game"; it sounds like he's clearing his throat. Perchance to gob? (Jim Santo's Demo Universe 9/14/00)"Just straightforward pop rock, a two person operation. This means machines instead of drums, which does lend something of a demo quality to the pieces. But the songs themselves, well, THEY SING. Sometimes execution doesn't matter. And that's not to say that Tony and Robin Davies can't play or are terrible engineers. Quite the opposite. It's just that this doesn't sound quite loke a band. But no worries; THE QUALITY IS IN AMPLE SUPPLY. Simply put, some folks get pop and others don't. Sometimes a hook is just a hook and a catchy chorus is just that as well. The Davies understand that and are completley at ease with the form. Now, would these songs sound better with a full band backing (or at least regular drums)? Absolutely. BUT THE MATERIAL IS SOLID. As long as IIMB doesn't try to overreach, it should do well." (Jon Worley, Aiding and Abetting) |
