    Artist description
Emotional and sometimes melodic, but not whiney or trite enough to be 'Emo'. Independent but not lo-fi or sloppy enough to be 'Indie'. Moderately heavy, but not political or brutal enough to be 'Hardcore'. Shared influences of post-punk bands, but just not punk enough to be a post-punk band themselves. Not nearly talented or dusty-headed enough to be Metal. Quite similar to Math-Rock, but not enough calculations involved to earn the title. Hailing from Northwest Florida, but not a 'local band'. Most easily described as three-piece hard rock.

    Artist History
Hastily assembled over a two week period in 1999, Florida's Gravity Keeps The Hours was only intended to fill in for guitarist/vocalist Doug C.'s band (NeedleRushPoint) on a canceled tour leg with Tintoretto. The combination of Doug C., bassist/vocalist Kevin B., and drummer Alex S. (both ex-Pinlock Project) proved to be a extraordinary success. The group released two demos on their own before connecting with Baltimore's BIGcrunch in 2000. Several months later a full-length CD "...for those who can appreciate the difference" was released, a snapshot of the group's then-current play list. 2001 proved to be a difficult time for the members of GKTH personally, and as a group. Tensions had built, situations had occurred, and a break was long overdue. Each member went his separate way. Alex joined another band (Stella Marie), moved to Portland, OR and grew his hair out. Kevin focused more of his time on hot rods (MoPar), his girlfriend (Mandy N.) and holdenRed (local emo). Doug spent his time as a DJ in the electronic scene, playing with the D&B crew Dark Empire and researching various chemicals. After more than a year apart, whether by fate or fluke, the three were pulled back together to rock like never before. Perhaps each member needed that little extra something to happen before all could be complete. The band is currently in the final stages of the production of a second full length album with engineers Steve Albini and John Golden to be released on the Athens, GA label Community Billygoat Records. An independantly-released split seven-inch record is planned for release in early 2004 with 1000th Man. With a newfound inspiration and vigor, GKTH is again hard at work turning their ideas into masterpieces, their dreams into realities, and their nay-sayers into liars.
