Artist description
Original Rock band with a fresh twist on Classic Rock stylings. Although the aggresive flute playing of Jim Ittenbach, tends to be the an obvious attribute for the band, it is certainly not the only one. Vocals are split between the two very different stylings of Jimmy Buter and Jim Ittenbach. Jimmy Buter's soulful guitar stylings are paramount to the mix. So is the the tightness of the rhythm section, Rick Linares (bass) and Daryll Freeman (drums). |

Artist History
Troubled Spirit started over ten years ago as a heavy metal band. Jimmy Buter and Daryll Freeman are original members from that era. Six years ago Jim Ittenbach joined as the band decided to cover classic rock selections as they prepared to unveil their original songs. Several bass players, and some other members later, Rick Linares joined the fold as the group's bass player. The proper chemistry was finally acheived to allow their original music to grow. |

Press Reviews
Music Monthly 1999:"Jim Ittenbach head honcho for the Maryland-based Troubled Spirit have proudly released their mini CD, Call It What You Want. Joining Ittenbach on the disc is Jimmy Buter, Darryl Freeman and Rick Linares. The disc includes three tunes, "Traffic Jam", "Judgement Day" and "Loser, Loser". Tracks were laid at Ambient Recording with Ray Tilkens at the helm. The band reports that Ray added a lot to the recording. Sometimes it's not just the studio that matters, it is often those in control. The music of Troubled Spirit is different in that it's got some southern rock, some Jethro Tull-ish licks, and a positive attitude. My favorite cut is "Loser, Loser" , and it's the lyrics that do it to me... the band appears around the region." |
