Artist History
Teresa's musical education began with classical flute training at the University of Rio de Janeiro School of Music. Along with her studies, Ines began working as an arranger and musical director to local theater and vocal-music groups. During the same period she began performing as a singer and flute player in Água de Vintém and The Carlos Renha Group, two folk music groups forming the nucleus of what would come to be known as Brazilian Jazz. Since 1994, following her graduation from the Berklee College of Music, Teresa has been working as a leading singer, performing with Brazilian jazz groups in Boston including Zabumbatuq and Brasileirinho. Ines toured Europe and performed in various Boston clubs including Ryles, Scullers, and the Regattabar. Ines' voice is characterized as both soft and intense. Her technical grasp is masterful as it has been said: "... Ines has the technique to stretch her material and the taste to preserve its aura" - Bob Blumenthal, The Boston Globe. |
