Artist History
GRAMMY-NOMINATED performer, Marco Granados has received worldwide acclaim for his diverse flute repertoire, dynamic sense of rhythm and exhilarating style. Since his 1991 New York debut at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, his performance highlights have included concerts at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, as well as his thrilling closing performance at the 1999 British Flute Society International Convention in Manchester. This fall, he will make his London debut at the fabled Wigmore Hall, with a solo recital of Classical Latin American compositions. A native of Venezuela, Mr. Granados has had a long and varied performing career that has carried him throughout the Western Hemisphere, including a recent concert at the Costa Rican International Music Festival, and a performance at Lincoln Center he co-produced with Cuban clarinetist Paquito D'Rivera. In addition to his work as a soloist, Mr. Granados has toured extensively with several renowned ensembles, including the Quintet of the Americas, which performed at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Since 1999, Mr. Granados has toured with his own ensemble, Un Mundo, which is dedicated to the mission of bringing the passion and energy of Latin American music to the world. In his Grammy-nominated 1999 CD, "Sunflute", he "brought a new dimension to flute playing," proclaimed legendary flutist Julius Baker. "[His] virtuosity and musicianship are phenomenal." Mr. Granados, who is a member of the Recording Academy, attended the Juilliard School of Music, and received degrees from the Mannes College of Music and The Manhattan School of Music. In addition, he has studied with both Jean-Pierre Rampal and James Galway. Mr. Granados now lives in New York City. |
