    Artist description
Our mission at Lighthouse Publishing is to present the truths about life...backed by science and logic, not belief or opinion. Our music mission is to present good feelings and messages....positive, uplifting soundtracks for everyday living....that you can listen to or carry around in your inner jukebox. We feature the writing and music of Dennis Marcellino We also offer: counseling, music instruction, and coaching (music and life). Dennis Marcellino is a former member of some of the most popular bands of the 1960s and 1970s: The Tokens (who had the hit The Lion Sleeps Tonight), and San Francisco based groups Sly & The Family Stone, The Elvin Bishop Group, The Electric Flag and Rubicon. With these groups he recorded 10 albums. As a solo artist he had the #1 selling cassette in the Northwest in 1992 & 1993 (It’s Christmas), and a 1994 CD release Daddy’s Home (on which he played all of the instruments and sang all of the vocal parts). Also noteworthy is the fact that in 1978 Dennis' band Rubicon closed the largest paid-ticket concert in history, Cal Jam 2 (350,000 attended, 250,000 paid), which was a 10 act concert that also included Santana, Heart, Aerosmith, Foreigner and Ted Nugent.Besides being a member of the above groups, over the years he’s recorded and toured as a musician/vocalist with Sha Na Na, Rare Earth, The Spencer Davis Group, 3 Dog Night, Otis Day & The Knights, Danny & The Juniors, The Coasters, Blues Image, Mike Bloomfield, Graham Central Station, and once the Musical Director for The Shirelles, Fabian, and The Platters. He has also been a special guest star on many television shows, including “The Tracey Ullman Show” (twice), American Bandstand, and Merv Griffin. While living in Los Angeles, he scored and performed the music for a number of movies, and sang the lead and played sax on two songs in Sweet Bird Of Youth, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Mark Harmon. He comes from a musical family, with some of his relatives being: Jerry Marcellino (writer and producer for Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Bobby Darin, The Jackson 5, +), Jocko Marcellino (leader of Sha Na Na), Vince Guaraldi, Sonny Bono, Muzzy Marcellino (who whistled the hit soundtracks for "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" and “The High And The Mighty” and was bandleader for “The Art Linkletter Show”), and Gene Marcellino (former bass player for Gary Lewis and The Playboys).Dennis Marcellino, whose last CD, An Evening To Remember, sold well internationally and received a five star review in Jazzscene Magazine (which also called Dennis a “master virtuoso” of the saxophone) has just released a new CD called New Beginning. This primarily instrumental CD, features Dennis on tenor sax, flute, guitar and a few vocals. Bob Carlisle, Grammy Award winning writer and singer of "Butterfly Kisses" said this about Dennis's CD: "When it comes to soul, Dennis Marcellino redefines the term. His remarkable tone and feel are full of passion and soulful expression." Also, on the very popular Soviet-American website, Dennis is listed as one of the top 10 sax players of all time.
