Artist History
Like anybody who has seen a Lamonster performancewill tell you, it’s the funky butt horns that always make the scene.Primarily a performance group associated with large events and funcitons,Lamonster has asserted itself as a potent musicalforce in the DC area. Since the conception of Lamonster in mid 1998, the group has performed at a number of outdoor festivals and events.* Lamonster is a ten piece funk/latin band that also plays jazz (mostly original compositions). The bulk of the horn players come from the DC area, and many from the GWU Latin Ensemble, where the hottest young players come out to strutt their stuff. Also, there is a New Orleans component to Lamonster which sets it apart from other groups of its kind. As evidenced by guest appearances from James Andrews (New Orleans recording artist who plays with Cyrille Neville, Allen Tousaint, and Dr. John on a regular basis), Paul Faats (Arranger /Composer-Peabody Conservatory), James Cheeks (Man of the gospel hour), you just never know where these fine talented horn players will come from. The funky horns always rise to the occasion, whatever it may be.****************************************************The band also consists of a solid rhythm section, with Andrew Bolton (Song writer, arranger) leading the way on keyboard and organ. Many otherlocal and out of town performers play with Lamonster at various performances. When you havea large event, or just a budget and a large stage,Lamonster is a great band for your consideration. The crowd always experiences something out of the ordinary. With a little ragin’ cajun, and some funk to move your butt, you can always count onLamonster to provide an evening of entertainment and intrigue. We will funk you good!Recent Performances include:Cool Aid ( A large Outdoor Festival in Baltimore)State Theater (Halloween Bash with James Andrews)Mt. Pleasant Arts Festival (Annual Community Event)Jazz Fest Crawfish boil (Original Lamonster Production)The Big Thing (Non Profit Fund Raiser)Mardis Gras Funk Fest (The Garage)Several Other Gigs in Local Nightclubs |
