Artist History
Formed in the seventies the VV's were the first punk anti dinosaur rock garage band. Their disregard for the stereo type musican set them apart from other bands at the time. They never tuned their instruments. They used objects not considered to be instruments and in the early stages when any members playing ability became too slick he was kicked out of the band. The songwriting team of John H. and Larry G. considered by some to be ahead of their time were at the wrong place at the wrong time. But many of today’s punk, alternative, parody, and rap styles reflect the music of the VV's.Their unique sound was a combination of the primitive songwriting plus the over the top organ playing of Robbie A. and the drumming of Joe M. who used beer cases as part of his drum set and as the cases became more empty the drum sound tones changed. After Robbie A left the band they changed their name to Johnny Meat and the Vegetables hoping to be more exceptable to the mainstream and released one single under this name called "Highway Insanity" |
