Press Reviews
From Kentucky Fried Afterbirth 'Zine:The band kindly told me that it was alright to slag this c.d. off if I wanted to as they don't like the material on it anymore, well thanks guys but I don't need your permission to slag this c.d. off, thanks all the same. Mind you I don't really intend to slag this off much as it's only bad in the points where they are purposefully making it so by bunging in lots of LAWNMOWER DETH style stupidity. The c.d. title and cover art depict Tosh Lines the character from TV drama The Bill, he died through alcoholic related problems, strange indeed but suitably sick & silly for the WARRIORS purposes! Songs about weasel kings with silly off-tempo bits and daft singing aren't meant to be taken seriously, they kind of carry on the British tradition of being a bit silly now and again. In point of fact having a sense of humour, something that few foreign bands ever manage to do. Mind you bands that stick exclusively to trying to make you laugh often fail, Grind efforts from the likes of THE CORPSE SHAGGERS & BASH fail as the jokes, (albeit poor infantile ones), take precedence, all attempts at making listenable or indeed decently played tunes go out of the window. These guys however can actually play and in the few songs that don't have detrimental silly bits they churn out some cool chunky Death Metal riffs graced with some curdling vocals. Like I say they've scrapped much of their shoddy/stupid stuff now so maybe their next release will be a touch more serious and probably a fair bit better because of it. We'll have to wait and see. |
