Artist History
Beautiful Soup begain in late 1998 when Ryan Polivka and Ross McMeekin met and began holding late night jam sessions in their University of Washington room for their friends. Where did they get the name, "Beautiful Soup," you ask? Just go to the "links" section of this webpage and read the Seattle Time's August 2001 interview with Ryan to find out! Beautiful Soup begain playing small coffee houses around Seattle as well as some scattered UW events, and they quickly developed a loyal following of great fans. With the addition of drummer/vocalist Jeremy Durr in 2001, Beautiful Soup had taken the band to a new level. Peter Denton completed the quartet in mid 2002 on the bass guitar and keyboards. During Jeremy's 8 month long stint in the Ukrane, Kyle Schadt filled in nicely on drums. Their debut CD, Train of Thought was released in August 2001, and it features Ryan and Ross doing the BS groove acoustic-duo-style. The next album, recorded but never released, featured the entire band and is now only available on Mp3.com. |
