Artist History Rick and Dave were busy with thier band called Spectre. This was an all original speed, thrash metal band. Teamed up with "Skin and Rot-gut" they terrorized San Antonio for six long years. During that time, the band put out a 5-song demo, a 7 inch vinyl record, a video and an 18 song CD. The exposure was mainly underground. Rick and Dave decided to put together a side band that played mostly cover tunes. Getting started was slow at first. Steve was the guy at the corner gas station who would always hook them up with free sodas and car washes. He was playing guitar for a band called Eliminator. They had been together for ten years. They were known for tearing it up back in the day. When they got together with drummer chris, a band was formed called SRCD. Steve, Rick, Chris, Dave. They had their first gigs at Dan's whteside, Jiggers and Shooters. The foundation for Monkey Blood was set. During this time Spectre broke up. Dave joined another band called Skunkweed. This was a new band put together by some of the guys that Dave and Rick met while on a river rafting trip, down the rio grande. The lead singer of Skunkweed, Jay Brown, was later asked to sing for SRCD. Of course he said yes. James was a druumer for Eliminator and a long time friend of Steve's. When Chris left the band, James stepped in and Monkey Blood was born. Since february of 1997 Monkey blood has been rockin' local joints such as NINERS, Billies pub, Dan's whiteside, Main st. pub, The Pour house backstage bbq, Country on the rocks, The Trap....to name a few. Monkey Blood has made alot of friends along the way. Each of the members come from one or more previous bands. Their love and dedication to the music is obvious. Monkey Blood plans to continue to rock the Alamo city with all they got. Along the way, they plan to make many more new friends. C-ya out there....Peace.
