Artist description Kooken & Hoomen occupy the interim, the cracks that fall between Rock, Jazz and Electronic music. Their ideas are singularly concentrated, the parts constructed and arranged like rock, the music spaced out for maximum formal effect. But as a song moves ahead in time, the ideas expand and parts dissipate and then reappear in the distance behind other parts, using time for a more jazz-like approach to both composition and performance. And although they play the music "live", in real-time, the pure sound elements of electronic music -- manipulations, loops, alien beats -- enter the songs and expand the music's dimensionality without downplaying the "player" aspect of the performance. Their arrangements open the music up to something beyond the parts each musician plays. There are very few solos, and those that do appear are there to continue the beauty of the song around it.
