Artist History
Rising from the state that has turned out such great artists as Mary-Chapin Carpenter and Bruce Springsteen, a young recording artist and songwriter from the small town of Chesterfield, New Jersey is quickly making a name for himself. The name is Chad Hamilton, and his music, a mixture of both the traditional and popular country sound, is becoming more distinguished throughout New Jersey. With the April 8, 2000 release of his new album Wherever You Go, a ten-song CD for which he co-produced and either wrote or co-wrote each song, he anticipates expanding his boundaries and introducing his sound to a much broader fan-base.Since early childhood, Chad excelled in sports and was enthusiastic about following his dreams to be an athlete while pursuing an education in medicine. Although he was writing and producing his own song demos when he was twelve, music was just a hobby. The aftermath of a traumatic car accident, however, diverted his attention to a new greatest passion - the communication of life's stories and themes through the art of music and songwriting. He says, "every note comes from the heart. My music is based on my beliefs and learning experiences in life, love, and loss."Growing up, country music was the exception among his peers, and consequently, Chad experienced the diverse musical realms of jazz, classical, and hard rock through his participation in various musical groups. He was also an integral member of his high school's renowned music program. Upon graduation, Chad was itching for freedom, so he packed up and moved to Nashville to pursue a college education and his career in music. At Middle Tennessee State University, Chad became more involved in making his new dreams a reality, and by his freshmen year of college, he had become quite a proficient bassist and guitarist. Chad also began networking with other writers and performed locally with friends, while studying in the university's Music Industry program. Although he loved the Nashville music scene, Chad moved back to New Jersey, where he has decided to finish college at Rutgers University, studying accounting and music.Since February of 1999, when he first launched his career as a solo artist, Chad has been developing his songwriting skills and has built a fan base that is quickly spreading throughout New Jersey and beyond. Chad performs locally in his home state and has made several trips to Nashville, where he has appeared at such venues as the Gibson Cafe. He is talking with labels in Nashville and is a member of ASCAP, the Nashville Songwriter's Association International, and the New Jersey Country Music Association. Chad's most recent performing accomplishment was opening for the Oak Ridge Boys at Six Flags Great Adventure during the theme park's Country Star Festival, where many other national and local acts were featured as well. What does Chad hope to accomplish with his music? "I want to motivate and positively inspire the audience. Country music has a way to make you laugh with tears in your eyes. It's a personal thing. It is the single most influential art form on earth. It can speak volumes with the right combination of music and lyrics. If music has the power to make people smile or cry, I'd rather them smile."During the first week of January 2000, Chad cut his first album with producer Frank Starchak, and he is both confident and optimistic that his work on the album will bring him one step closer to a major record deal, a major tour, and a hit song. |
