    Artist description
I am Bill Boyd - the artist behind the band -'Your Id (IDENTITY) Is Your Music'.I live in Ventura, California and the music I am creating is completely computer based.I am drawn to ambient, techno-trance groove music.I got into music composition in 2000 by playing with sonic foundrys acid music which is a loop based composition system that I highly recommend to all (i also recommend Voyetra's Techno Ejay). This and many other software programs shifted my thinking from music performance to music sculpting which continues to be my current vision. I also use cakewalk home studio 9, jammin 4.0, and band in a box as well as several other players which keep changing as i try out new 'miracle' software that isn't always as miraculous as the authors claim they are. For Those looking to move in this area Ihighly recommend the english mag computermusic. It is the best of the group. Get It!

    Artist History
Music has been my inner anchor since i was 14 and that was 45 years ago and all that has changed is the music I listen to (not listening and caring about music is inconcievable) I work in the world of software technology and I am very grateful that this technology has created so much freedom for artists and now anyone can discover their own artistry right on their computer. I deeply believe, and daily find evidence for, that we are in the midst of the biggest rennaisance the world has ever witnessed and that you can either embrace this concept and benefit from it - or - you can just let it pass you by. Embrace it - and - embrace it now. There are no more excuses (good ones anyhow) for not giving expression to your inner self thru some medium and if your expression reaches only one person (like yourself) you will be rewarded. My first music love was r & b. At the age of 14 - and did it feel good to connect with that music (even if I wasn't connecting in other areas of life) then at age 18 - I fell in love for the first time - and my love was deeply into jazz - which - when I first listened to it sounded like people playing musical scales up and down and up and down. I just didn't get it and because the one I loved loved this music - I decided that I also was going to learn to love jazz. My first jazz album was Miles Davis 'Kind of Blue' and what an introduction to the music. I drove my family nuts as I listened to this album over and over listening for 'it'. It took some time - and then - I started to get 'it' - and have never looked back. My first love didn't return the favor - and - yet I still thank her for this intro that has stayed with me for life. Kind of Blue is still my desert island record and if I only get to take one piece of music this is still it. It sounds better each year as my musical ears deepen. I have studied and played the saxaphone and the piano and decided that I was not at John Coltrane levels and drifted away from it. I was also a pop singer in the famous 'Farrell and the Flames'as one of the flames. Some of my musical heroes are Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Gene Harris,Stanley Turrentine, Eddie Lockjaw Davis, Pat Metheny, Lyle Mays, William Orbit, Shirley Horn and many many more. In addition to jazz - i am drawn to electronic ambient and trance groove music. I love the William Orbit 'Strange Cargo III' piece and I still like it better than anything else he has done. The two longest standing loves in my life are music and movies and I love movies with big, big sound and this is an influence in my musical thinking. I just love all of the whooses, and thunks, and clunks - and atmospheric sounds that films today have so strongly embraced. In the year 2000 I have shifted my identity from my work to my art and now base my identity on my work as a Channel Islands Independent Film Festival organizer and musical composer and my work is strictly to pay the rent and keep me in music and movie software.
