Artist description
The Blackseeds are a dynamic 'roots rock reggae' band who play upbeat original tunes that are extremely danceable. They have been well received by packed houses in their Wellington home town (in the middle of New Zealand Mate !) The Black Seeds were the headline act at this years 'One Love' concert in celebration of Bob Marley's birthday. They also closed the 1999 New ZealandMusic Week with a live-to-air gig broadcast on Radio Active (local fresh progressive FM station)from the Matterhorn Bar. The Black Seeds have recorded two singles in the last 6 months ; 'Little Atoms' stayed at number one for3 weeks in the Radio Active Top 11 and remained inthe charts for a further 6 weeks. Similar successis predicted for the second single, 'Keep on Pushing'.This Wellington based band are now keen to take their music to the rest of New Zealand. They will thenconquor the rest of the universe with their soulful dub. Stay tuned for more releases soon. |

Press Reviews
Capital Times - 19/04/00. 'Stars in their Ears', Indigo Bar, [Tribute to original kiwi music with 5 local bands playing kiwi favourites] Good local musicians, an enthusiastic crowd and the history of kiwi rock plundered for musical jewels - a winning combination...Sugarbug struggled to catch alight but the reggae masters the Black Seeds had no such trouble. "She loves Wellington, she was born there", the opening lines to 'Tomorrow night' [A Front Lawn song] had the joint jumping and their iriegroovetook the song somewhereI never thought it could go. More like this please. Aaron Watson. |
