Artist History
New Yorker Liz Skillman began playing music in 1997 in an ill-fated Lower East Side recording session. Tragically, all evidence of that particular session was stolen two days later when the studio was broken into. Liz kept playing and, two years later, started a band, Joaquim, along with drummer Ted Marcus and bass player Kevin Mackall. The band's first LP, "In the Middle" came out on Hermione Records in January 2001. |

Press Reviews
Listen.com says "Busy, Middle Eastern flavored flat-picking (think Led Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore") accompanies Skillman's vibrant yet somehow tragically affected singing. Whisky, sadness, and broken but rallying hearts." |
