Artist History A native Californian, Kelley Roemel Jones or 'KJ' was born August 31, 1973 in San Diego, California. Willie and MarthaJones raised their son in the Long Beach area, where he graduated from Jordan High in 1993. KJ received a full athleticscholarship to San Jose State University, but two years later, he had to make the tough decision to forfeit it to return home andhelp care for his new son.Now, at age 4, 'Little KJ' continues to be an inspiration for 'Big KJ' not only to attain his musical goals, but his goals in life aswell.KJ's musical journey began early in grade school, where he would experiment with a different instrument every year. Hediscovered his musical voice in high school and eagerly determined to develop it.His vocal debut came at Alondra Church of Christ, where he sang bass in an acappella vocal ensemble called 'Spirit'. HisBrother, Jeremy, knew KJ was holding something back, and passed his solo part over to him, thereby giving KJ his first soloperformance...singing 'Amazing Grace'.KJ would continue to perform many gospel songs, but he would also maintain his interest in R/B. With a group of friends, hewould perform cover-songs of famous hits by groups like Boyz II Men, Jodeci and Guy...to name just a few. KJ gainedconfidence as a solo artist and went on not only to perform in various talent shows and competitions, but to win awards, prizesand gain peer recognition.KJ hopes to be a major success in the music business as well as on of the R&B artists on the charts like R. Kelly, BabyFace,Brian McKnight and many others who inspired him to sing and love R&B. KJ also plans to develop his skills to produce answrite for others as well.
