Artist History
Well, to make a short story long... Althea started out in 97 with Jon and Mike as a band called Health... Two years, three drummers, and two guitar players later, Althea was born... With the line up consisting of: Jonathan Warzybok - Guitar/Voice, Mike Paul - Bass/Voice, and Joe Somerville - Drums. They all decided to take this thing called music seriously, since after all, they were devoting so much time to it... Transformation: Hobby to Art, Art to profession? (Well... Hopefully) So, they added rock extraordinare Joshua Barrett and the Rock and Roll magic began... and as they say the rest is rock history... |

Press Reviews
IMPACT PRESS (DEC/JAN '99-00)Hailing from Tampa, FL area, this 3- piece has created powerful emo/indie rock. The emotional aspects of the music are intense and the vocals help to capture it. Some songs progress at a mid- tempo pace while others are a little more upbeat. Every song. though, drives forward in a progression that continuously crescendos - a new energy revealed constantly. OUTBACK MAGAZINE (FEB '00) Althea seem to write from a part of the soul left untouched by far to many bands of ANY genre of music. The sicerity is felt from song to song, beginning to end.The only real problem with the songs themselves is their length. all 5 songs are upwards of 5 minutes or longer, making it hard sometimes to sit through them. However, that's my only complaint. The songs are wonderful and the vocals bring to mind thoughts of the Jazz June or earlier Appleseed Cast. Altogether, a fine release. (DS) |
