Artist description
I am basically a songwriter and guitar player. All my other skills support the first two. Swirling Eddy will probably never be a working band again but is more a vehicle for my song writing and compositional talents. These songs are all works in progress and I am always looking to colloborate with other musicians to make them better. I mean you can only enjoy playing with yourself for so long! (nudge, nudge, wink wink, say no more) If you are a singer, bass player, keyboard player, sax player, drummer or other artist that would like to add his/her talents to my compositions, drop me a line |

Artist History
I used to be in many local bands that never got past the local stage. I worked as a studio engineer and got to rub elbows with many national recording artists as well as many talented local ones. Swirling Eddy formed in 1984 with many of those local talents I was rubbing elbows with and we played some local gigs before everyone was lured away by other endeavors. Through out those years the one constant has been a love of Todd Rundgren and Gentle Giant. They could both wipe their asses on a brick and I would buy it just to see what new and exciting things they were up to. Needless to say their influence comes through as well as many others. The songs are like children that need to be born, nutured, then sent out into the harsh world alone to fend for themselves. What happens to them after that is up to you |

Press Reviews
"Admittedly a huge fan of Todd Rundgren [not a bad influence, after all], Swirling Eddy dives into Todd's industrial-techo pool and picks up a lot of Rundgren flavor. All of Eddy's songs are listed Classic Rock, rightfully so, as Todd would have it and Eddy even 'lives' the TR musical lifestyle. Eddy's soundscapes pay homage to TR and that is Ok, but he may go too far.....Of course he doesn't have Todd's voice and doesn't try to imitate TR, which is a plus for him. The songs, he writes, are being showcased on his site, as he does not have a band or perform live himself.....So with all the disclaimers aside, Eddy cracks through the murk and comes up with a competent batch of songs, although his arranging needs some focus. Also, I wish he would perform more like TR in the techno department. Todd is never satisfied until he has broken through some normal barriers that rock puts up and breaks ground. Eddy may think about this and experiment more with his songs and his sounds.....Certainly experimentation is harder than ever, but a good arrangement, one with surprises and technical wizardry, would make the TR influence really pay off here.
