Artist description
Steak is composed of two uniquely complimentary singer-songwriter frontmen.Erik Lieblein: The 6'4,always maniacally smiling Gibson SG strummer, has a taste for the bizarre and the unknown that is contagious with even the tamest of audiences, and John Pancaldo:"The hardest working eyebrows in showbiz",who has an artillery of facial expressions that can put many of the greats to shame. The Italian baritone has an expressive vocal sarcasm that can melt your parmigiana.Stuart Damm is an accomplished drummer with a sense of history and class. He likes to hit the drums hard, but he knows why he's doing it. J.Anthony Granelli is an Avant Garde jazz composer that loves Mingus and Led Zeppelin, with equal vigor.J. can play almost any style on his bass and make it his own.All together the boys have an enigmatic, often quirky but always original sound that must be heard by anyone who is tired of the same old stuff, but needs music with a sense of history. |

Artist History
Steak was born in Boulder,Colorado in 1992.The band took to the road within three months of their existence, heading east through Chicago and their homeland of New York, with many points in between. When they completed the tour they arrived in Boulder to find a local buzz brewing about their music. Steak began packing the local Fox Theater and Boulder Theater and getting their first taste of the charmed life of rock'n'roll.Steak played with bands like Uncle Tupelo(Now Sun Volt and Wilco),Morphine,The Cherry Poppin'Daddies,Superchunk,Fishbone,Bare Naked Ladies(insert more gratuitous name dropping here). This marked their release of their first CD,"No Pleasure In Killin'" which was well recieved, by those who received it.The band signed with management in San Francisco and decided to move there in hopes of new experiences in the world of rock. Steak quickly discovered that they needed to build a whole new fanbase for their music in SF, so they embarked on the slow and arduous task of building a grassroots following. This marked the bands' second CD, "Black Speedo",which was well liked by those who liked it. Steak began touring with The Meters and then The Beat Farmers. The crowds in the Bay Area were growing and Steak was developing a small but honest following up and down the coast of California.Steak was soon playing openers at The Warfield,The Great American Music Hall and Slim's performing with many popular acts that are,for now, much more famous than Steak. The band soon grew tired of the West and longed for the faster pacing of their native New York area. They parted ways with their management and moved the band to NYC.This marked the bands third CD,"Feasting On Famine", which is currently being recieved by anyone who trys to recieve it.Won't you join them? |
