Artist History
My earliest musucal infuences were my father Darby Slick (he wrote the Jefferson Airplane hit "Somebody to Love") and my aunt Grace Slick. When I was very little, my dad made me a set of wooden blocks with the names of musical notes on them; we would move them around and sing the melodies they made. At this time I also had some lessons with one of India's foremost musicians Ali Akkbar Khan. My dad had a recording studio at home and I could walk up and play any instrument he had, and I would watch him record completely arranged songs step by step. By the time I was eight, I had over 20 Beatle records. I absolutely loved music. As I grew up, I started jamming with friends at parties, and then playing in bands at clubs. Songwriring became a great pleasure for me. Of course, I had always loved to sing. My love of good sound lead me to put together a production studio to allow my techniques to evolve.I feel so fortunate to have heard to much great music; I'd like to give something back. by Jor Slick |
