Press Reviews
Brave Words and Bloody Knuckles:
Another do-it-yourself six-stringer, Johnny Lökke is responsible for the whole ball of wax, except the drums. Looking back to the 80's a la Keel and Judas Priest, Lökke is equally adept on guitar and vocals - a rarity to say the least. Hitting the high notes in true Halford fashion and whittling the wood of his guitar away with performances ranging from chunky to flashy to rocking, these 12 originals come from a man who plays for the love of music, not to get chicks, cars or cash. Melodies that can only be created by a mature musician take us down a path that's been traveled before; no new ground is broken here but it's still pleasurable.
ZWARP:
Early Warning is a terrific blast of nostalgia. My metal brethren should be pleased. The album can best be described with two words: LOUD and PROUD! Play it that way.
Starpolish:
Did somebody say "Metal"? Johnny Lökke is a really fun throwback to the good old days of the Sunset Strip and Headbanger's Ball. As both vocalist and guitarist, he's got the melodic sensibilities of Bon Jovi and Dokken with the speed-metal-guitar ferocity of Megadeth, topped off by the explosive bombast of Iron Maiden. Johnny has an amazing arena rock voice, and I really love it when he goes for (and hits!) those Rob Halford/Dio high notes. And this dude is from Kansas! Right on! Calling all Headbangers: check out Johnny Lökke! Johnny's got a 12 song CD on available that just blows all these lame nu metal bands off the planet and is well worth owning. It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock & roll, but Johnny Lökke is on the right track. |
