Artist History
The Donald Brinegar Singers began rehearsing occasionally in the fall of 1995 and presented their first concert in February 1997. The ensemble members are from various professional background and volunteer their time to the the ensemble. The focal point of the ensemble's rehearsals is the preparation for performance of twentieth & twenty-first century choral literature. Donald Brinegar is Professor of Music and Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Pasadena City College. He is a voice instructor at Pomona College and has been a visiting lecturer of conducting and voice at the University of Nevada, Reno, the University of Southern Oregon and the University of Southern California. He is currently President of the Music Association of California Community Colleges. |

The Donald Brinegar Singers can be heard on six compact discs: Ascension for St. Anthony's Music, Pange Lingua (a recording of their first concert) and the recently released and highly acclaimed Eternal Light which includes the premiere recording of Morten Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna with organ accompaniment. The Singers recently recorded Lauridsen's Madrigali for the composer on the RCM label for the Northwest Journey CD release. The ensemble also collaborated with the Santa Barbara Symphony in January, 2000 in making the world premiere recording of the Villa Lobos 10th Symphony for Koch Intl. Records. |
