Artist description
OCEAN is proud to showcase its first production for Criminal Nation. CN is Tacoma's first rap group to blow up around the country. They now return for another round with "Resurrection" and are ready to reclaim their rap reign. Deemed criminals by society this Northwest's "Deepest Click of Partners," Clee-Bone, D-Rob, Bumpy and Spade are the nucleus of this excellent production. With their fame on the rise, these four talented Northwest black men each bring a different flavor to the group. Resurrection contains knowledge about the streets, poetry about the struggles of the everyday man, unity, fatherhood, awareness and the pains that life serves us with each day - with just a dash of "criminal love" for the ladies!Criminal Nation began in 1986 when a group of friends from Foss High Scool in Tacoma, Washington let their rap talent be seen and heard. Soon they were winning rap contests throughout the Northwest region and eventually they landed a record contract with Nastymix Records and Cold Rock Records of Seattle, Washington. To their credit, CN released three albums nationally: "Release the Pressure", "Trouble in the Hood" and the "DCP Organization". Wojack, who was recognized as the lead vocalist, subsequently decided to pursue a solo career and has released one album under Just Cash Records titled, "Where Ya Going Wo?" After a several year hiatus, the remaining Criminal Nation members reunited under a new order and is most definitely back in the house. "Resurrection" is the newest and best album yet. The new home for the Nation is cean Records, an independent hip-hop, R&B, comedy label based out of Lakewood, Washington. |

Group Members
D-Rob puts the criminal into Criminal Nation by writing about the experiencese life has offered. He keeps his lyrics real, rough and rugged.Spade brings forth a laid back, easy listening style to the group. He offers to those who listen, a message with his music. He keeps his flow rugged enough for the underground with just enough "butta" for his mainstream audience.Bumpy is a smooth lyricist who offers words unspoken but on the hearts of men. His lyrics represent the phases of life everyone has gone through. His poetry offers him an escape through "venting".Clee-Bone is an urban poet with the knowledge and understanding of the everyday man struggles, urban politics and social issues. With his finger on the pulse of societies problems, he offers a view to what "ills" the world and delivers universal messages of life to all men. |

...More towards the Northwest side of the states we find the brothers at Ocean Records earnin' their kudos with the release of Criminal Nation's critically acclaimed debut Resurrection. Tracks like "A Thin Line", "Under Pressure" and "Criminal Love" allow members Bumpy, D-Rob, Spade and Clee-bone to exhibit why they've been nominated for the best rap/hip-hop album by Northwest Music Awards Committee.( Riggs Morales--The Source Magazine, 8/99 - 9/99 )Check it out... Old schoolers may remember Criminal Nation from the early nineties. Tacoma, Washington is back in the house and so is Criminal Nation with phat tracks produced by up-and-comer Eugenius. The album "Resurrection" should resurrect Criminal Nation back into the hip-hop limelight.( Nasty Nes--Rap Editor, Hits Magazine, 2/26/99 Vol.13 ) |
