Artist History
That ?Southern California? sound; how do you capture the essence it conveys? It?s probably best illustrated by the musical giants who shaped and defined this unique genre. From West Coast artists like Brian Wilson to the U.K./West Coast hybrid of Fleetwood Mac, this identifiable yet illusive musical color is the prominent tonal shade found within the songs of "zerbe". Self described as ?organic pop?, Christopher Zerbe writes songs that tie a connection between the artists that have lead him through his musical past to the musician he?s become today. The writing, production, engineering, performing, and mixing duties of this debut album were accomplished by Christopher using an array of guitars, vintage effect pedals, Steinberg recording software and Apple computer technology. ?This was an interesting record to make as its composite is an amalgamation of the oldest and newest tools available to the modern musician." zerbe performs throughout the Central and Southern California areas at various venues and events. *Check the calendar section of this site for performance schedules. |

Press Reviews
FROM BUYERS OF THE CD: "Smooth supportive guitars wrap around wonderful self-harmonies and impressive songcraft. As a songwriter and Fleetwood Mac schooled musician myself, I loved this album the first time I heard it. Chris has captured that Buckingham sound we all know and love. Positive lyrics and catchy hooks make this a great uplifting feel good collection of songs. This one will stay in my CD changer for a long time to come. I highly recommend it." (Todd Norcross West Bridgewater, Massachusetts) On my third listen, this album really came alive for me. It's like a summer breeze. Great pop music. I was reminded a little of Shoes, even Walter Egan . . . The album as a whole is quite good. He's a pop craftsman to be reckoned with. My hat's off to him for having all of the writing credits. I rarely take artists seriously who aren't also writers. I do hear some Buckingham influenced guitars and production, but this is clearly Zerbe's album. It's great to hear this kind of pop in the era of technocrap. I'll be looking for his follow up disc. (Timothy Kee, North Huntington, Pennsylvania, USA) |
