Artist description
Chris is a recording artist above all else. That is, most of his work is done strictly as a recording project, not as a recorded version of a live act. He works almost exclusively with electronic instruments and voice, with a little guitar thrown in for good measure. With rare exceptions, everything in the recordings is played or programmed by him. |

Artist History
Chris Torgersen, is a New York City based composer and performer whose record runs the gamut from pop rock to electronic experimentation, stopping along the way at musical theater and film music, among other styles. He grew up in Brooklyn and began composing small works and songs as a teenager. In 1993, while studying music and psychology at SUNY Stony Brook, he released his first demo as keyboard player and major writer for the band Dying Breed. Over the next three years, he collaborated with close friend and bandmate John LaSala on a large-scale multimedia musical theater piece entitled Dimensional Rift. The project was an unprecedented coming together of the Music, Dance and Theater departments. The production was quite well received by professors and students alike and became the feature presentation at Stony Brook's First Annual Arts Festival. This success of this collaboration became an inspiration for future students at the University.Since graduating from Stony Brook in 1996, Chris has been involved in a cornucopia of projects, including film scores, album production, and solo compositional work. |
