Press Reviews
Let me introduce you to Southbound.Southbound is a set of six young men working together, who as musicians display beauty of form, harmony and expression of emotion.First, let's meet Bobby Johnson, lead singer. He started singing at an early age with influences such as James Taylor, George Strait and Garth Brooks. Bobby is a talented songwriter and an energetic performer. The emotion and dynamics of Bobby's voice will captivate any audience and keep them coming back for more.Southbound has recorded an original, nine song CD, which features their signature song "Cowboy Rock." The second member, bass guitarist, Matt Seymour wrote Cowboy Rock. The 25-year-old is a Georgia native, but local transplant since 1982. Matt has been strumming away since he was 13, but only as a hobby. Matt's tie to Southbound is the next guy you will meet, Mike Goncalves on rhythm/lead, electric/acoustic guitar.Mike, for the early part of his 26 years of talent, gives credit to the likes of Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson. The later musical influences of Travis Tritt, George Strait, (and oh yeah...Garth) have produced one of Southbound's country bad boys. Mike started playing at the ripe old age of 13. He thanks his parents for "always having music in our house." He visions himself one day playing at the Grand Ole Opry, and accepting an award at the CMA's.Gary's keyboards add an extra touch to the "Southbound Sound," blending the driving guitar rhythms with the traditional honky tonk sound. Some of his favorites include Diamond Rio, Black Hawk and The Eagles. Listen for Gary's voice on those really high notes of Southbound's harmony.Brothers united? Yes, we have two. First Cameron Albert, or "Cam" as we call him back home, is a 24-year-old drum playing fool. Cam was born in South Florida and grew up listening to Charlie Daniels, but takes his drum cues from rockers Neal Pert of Rush, Don Henley of the Eagles, and John Bonham of Led Zepplin. Well now, there is some serious drum. But don't let the head banging fool you, Cam can deliver a soft country ballad or drive home a rocking rhythm that defines the style of Southbound. This brings us to the "other" brother, little brother, but with a great big lead guitar, Joe Albert. Joe is 22, and born in Tampa. Joe has loved music since he was a little boy and has earned a certificate in sound engineering from Unity Gain Recording Studios in Ft. Meyers, Florida. He owes his musical roots to Waylon Jennings, Diamond Rio, and Shannendoah. Ah...Joe, that must be where you get that killer harmony in your voice. Joe has also been known to pound the ivories on occasion. Now you have met the six "Country Bad Boys," who are going to "Take Country to the Edge." |
