    Artist description
Soul Cracker was a collection of versatile musicians and intense rappers/screamers. THIS IS NOT THE SOUL CRACKER THAT APPEARED ON VH1 AND GOT A RECORD DEAL (although our music is better)- We also were characterized as punks, metalheads, and angry individuals who made music that other young people could relate to. You could slam dance to some of it and groove out to the rest. The songs on this recording were recorded on a little box in the corner of our practice space (it was all we had!) and as such really are severely lacking in any kind of good quality at all. A couple of the songs were unfinished when we made the tape. But you can hear almost everything, a lot of the lyrics you can't understand. The band was merely a starting point for a lot of us, including myself. I played the primary guitar in the group and did a lot of the songwriting/construction. Mike on the bass did a lot of the writing also. We were very intense live, and a lot of people have told us we could have gotten somewhere, we were doing something that nobody else at the time was doing. But, it was just not meant to be.

    Artist History
Formed 1996 in Huntsville, AL. I was the primary guitar player in the group and along with Mike on the bass, and Adam and Travis rapping and screaming we constructed intense music that combined hiphop with punk rock and metal in a whole different way. Adam brought on Jimmy as another guitar player, he brought a punk/ska edge to the band. I met Sahid through some friends at UAH, he had been playing drums in jazz and funk projects for school. He combined his styles with our rap/core mix which made for an even more different sound. Played several shows with lots of people showing up. I left the band in late '96 (to form what has become Scooter Rock, and now Rhyme Junkies) because of musical disagreements with the singer. They made a higher-quality sounding CD afterward butsince I'm not on that it wouldnt be appropriate to put those recordings up. It wasn't too much later that Soul disbanded totally. People were going off to school and apparently everybody was ready to do different things.
