Artist History
Sean has been creating soundscapes and musical compostions since a teenager - beginning his experiments in electronic music studio composition by covering erase heads with cellophane tape. Later he studied electronic music composition and performance technique in depth under the direction of the legendary international composer, performer and ethnomusicologist Ingram Marshall - a pioneer in the development of live electronic music technique. Sean recieved a degree in music composition and electronic media production from the Evergreen State collee in Olympia Washington where his study focussed on producing large musico/theatrico events involoving live acoustic and electronic music, dance, performance art, video projection, sets and lighting design. He founded a popular series of student concerts that aspire to these high production standards and continue to this day. In Boston Massachusetts he was a musical assistant to Film and Stage Composer Yuval Ron, an Assosciate Artist with the acclaimed international theatrical group Pilgrim Theatre Research and Performance Collaborative, a founding member of the innovative performance group Alphabet, Composer and Sound Designer for various stage productions, Band Leader for the stage musical Phobias and an arranger, programmer and engineer working in rock and roll stuidios, jingle houses and music libraries. Since relocating to San Francisco, California, he has been focussed on developing a style of performance that brings the vocabulary of the electronic music studio into a live improvisational setting. He performs locally and internationally as a solo performer as well as with the music groups Kasosei and Rainbows of Grey. Sean also continues his work on studio compostions and stage settings and maintains a close relationship with Astro Molten Media Lab who provide the venue for the conception and realization of his current work. He is presently working on settings for Kat Stoutenborough's original work The Floating Bone which will be premiered this Autumn in the San Francisco Fringe Festival. |
