Artist History
Originally brothers, Mike and Scott Rennels were musically separated at an early age. Mike played guitar, until he made the fateful mistake of showing his eager younger brother a few chords. Not much later, on a trip home from college, he was treated to Scott's first success at copying by ear. A Rush album. The whole thing. Mike wisely took up bass after that, recording and performing with project studio pioneers "Dobieyes". Scott made waves with a series of bands, including "Magnum" and "The Bridge". Always recording and producing, as was their habit, the brothers Rennels finally combined efforts in the mid-nineties with the discovery of singer/songwriter Pete Garcia. The only problem was--Pete didn't know how good he was. He'd never sung with a microphone, or written a song, but the brother's ears knew. Now they are like brothers: Pete, Mike, Scott...get it? Our demo "Breathe" consists of songs recorded on 8-track cassette. (That being said for those who are amazed at the quality of recording...After all, McCartney recorded "Ram" on a four-track!) CREDITS: Pete writes the lyrics in the living room while Scott and Mike create the music in the bedroom studio. Everything is mixed and digitally mastered by MRennels. Special Thanks to our studio pals: "In My Soul" features Joe Choe on slide guitar and Todd Labak plays the drum fills on "Afraid of Fading Away". The kid on the album cover is our cousin's son, Kevin. |
