    Artist History
Filler began when Marcel Houbolt (Drums) and Brendan Ryan (Guitar, from the top end of Qld, set out in search of rock-riff dreams and headed south to Brisvegas where Filler as we know it began to take shape. Ben Roach (Guitar) hooked up with the two, Chad Morro(Vocals) and Lebis Barkeij (Bass) followed shortly after completing the Filler line up, and seeing it become the fearless rock and roll fury it is today. With this line up some 3 years ago, Filler took out all its competitors to win Brisbanes Crash and Burn Breeding Ground comp in 1998, which marked the bands reputation as one of this countrys most dynamic and forceful live bands. From this Filler went on to record their Debut EP The Red Light Epidemic with Jeff Lovejoy and was successfully released through Brisbane rock supporters, Rhythm Ace Records in late 1999, gaining national airplay on JJJ with the lead track Amyable. After years of listening to the likes of AC/DC, Helmet, Kyuss, Tool and The Hellacopters, Filler bring their own brand of metal to the stage and stereo. Live shows and supports already in the bag include the likes of Nebula, Grinspoon, Shihad, Screaming Jets, Sunk Loto and Rollerball. These along with their festival stealing performance at the 2000 Big Day Out and the recent blistering performance with U.S. nu-metal heroes SYSTEM OF A DOWN make for a pretty impressive and intense couple of years... and its only gonna get better. The next chapter will see the 2002 release of their second EP Underworld/Overlord on Rhythm Ace Records with Goldstar being the first single lifted from the 6 tracker. The EP is receiving rave reviews already, and will be toured nationally in what is shaping up as a corker of a year for Filler.

    Press Reviews
Filler Underworld Overlord (2002/Rhythm Ace) Queenslands Filler are back! If you couldnt tell, Im excited! A good friend passed their first E.P., 2000s The Red Light Epidemic onto me, and it happened to be one of the best debuts Id heard in years. Now its time for their second effort, and Im very impressed. Filler are far from easy to categorize. Theres plenty off riffs, aggressive vocals and melody, but there are also moments of plain experimentation and mellowness. Homage opens with an almost stoner like riff that Fu Manchu would give up their stash for. Then the whole track changes by the chorus! Sounds bizarre, but it certainly works. Underworld has a nice contrast between the electric and acoustic guitars. It almost sounds like some evil blues song (And yet, Im doing this review quite sober) and comes complete with equally unique lyrics. * is an experiment in sound effects before they blast into Goldstar. Chads vocals are certainly worth a mention for this track. What he doesnt make up in range, he makes up in character and distinctiveness. There are also some nice time changes from the band. Tequila again shows the band deceptiveness when it comes to the humble riff. The opening could have been mistaken for something left from an uncompleted Kyuss album, but instead blooms into a full-blown rocker than simply cranks. The final track Machines is simply full on. The band is given the chance to crank it up and let loose. The chorus is again a stand out for the band. There are plenty of Australian bands out there begging to be noticed. Some are really worth checking out, and more than compete with well know international acts. Filler are certainly one of them.
