Artist History
Ebenezer Splooge is a punk band from upstate New York that plays a hard, fast, in-your-face style of music. Their first full length CD, "Lickin' the Dickens", was released in early 1999, and has received favorable reviews from Flick Music, World Wide Punk, and The Band Index. Their second album, tentatively titled "You're Soaking In It", is set for release in late summer 2000. Formed of the burning debris of previous lesser bands going back to the early 90's, Splooge finally came together as a unit in 1997. After jumping headlong into the local Kingston N.Y. tavern and backyard barbecue scene, it quickly became evident that Splooge would need to look further afield. Enter CBGB, NYC's showcase underground club. After just three appearances on theirlegendary stage, Splooge’s infectious live performance can now be found cybercast in streaming video on the club’s website. Currently, the band is expanding into other premier clubs such as The Chance in Poughkeepsie N.Y., and the active northern New Jersey punk venues. Ebenezer Splooge is a hard-working band that doesn't let up, as its ever-growing fan base will attest. |

Press Reviews
REVIEWS OF “LICKIN’ THE DICKENS” Vocals: A- (3.8)Lyrics: A+ (4.5)** Guitar: A (4.0) Drums: A (4.0) Bass: A- (3.8) Overall: 4.02 (out of 4) **Radio Probability: A "The first thing that caught my attention while listening to Lickin' the Dickens was the lyrical work. Ebenezer Splooge's songs are very well put together. The witty lyrics fit perfectly with Splooge's hectic instrumental pace. I must admit that initially I was quite offended by the ever so suggestive CD cover and shall we say colorful song titles but Eric, Joe, Erik, and Matt won me over with the speed of lightning. With some hard work and determination, Ebenezer Splooge just might have what it takes to bring punk back into the limelight; and I'm behind them all the way." Andrea---Flick Music “This foursome from upstate New York play their own brand of super-fun punk rock that mostly nods its head back towards a Ramones/Descendents pop-punk formula, but at other times much more of a wild rock n' roll formula like the Humpers or Devildogs. Heck, there even seems to be a bit of early old-style hardcore punk (a la Circle Jerks) in here. Typically, the songs lean towards the catchy, fun side of punk, but some of my favorites like Remembrance are actually very serious (and the music totally shreds it up!). The result is a fun, hard-rocking mix of punk rock goodness with enough quirk to set it apart from sounding like any "it's been done before" band. Some other hits on this CD include Sicker and Sicker, Better Than You, and Dogshit. I'd recommend giving this band a listen. ”Vic Gedris---World Wide Punk“ Ebenezer Splooge is a four piece punk band with an uplifting beat to their music, and most of the time hilarious lyrics. The only thing I didn't like is that the songs are too short, but that seems to be the case with most punk bands. Other than that they rock! They are very well organized with great vocals. Everyone except the drummer contributes to the lyrics, so it gives it an all around sound. They create a frantic paced rhythm with their guitars that makes you want to get up and jump around. Even the artwork on the cover of the CD is twisted, they definitely have an 'I don't give a fuck attitude' and that's always good. You should defiantly check them out, they have a style all their own, and are one of the coolest punk bands I've heard in a while.” Kevin---Band Index |
