Artist History
Aaron Booth is a songwriter with a love for penning melodies that hang on for dear life. His songs are wistfully bittersweet broadcasts describing the tension and release of an emotional landscape "somewhere in between".
He has explored the gamut of Canadian indie music beginning in his hometown of Calgary. The whirring sounds of a 4-track could always be heard in the background as he conjured odes to pop, roots-rock, country, jazz and sound design.
Aaron now resides in Toronto. He plays keys in Montreal’s Snailhouse and moonlights with various Toronto rock bands. After a lengthy national tour in summer 2002, he's taking a break to focus on recording and playing local shows in T.O for now.
Production of his sophomore full length is in progress. Tours to come. Stay tuned... |

Press Reviews
"Surprisingly honest and alluring with intelligently directed songwriting, Aaron Booth's seven song debut solo CD is reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel, with a slightly spacier edge to it. Booth's long stint in Calgary with such bands as Sky Suspended, Pavonine and Shecky Formé has forged a local jewel. In an age where roots rock is becoming the alternative standard, Tune Up stands out as a refreshing not-so-roots pop record" (Wes Hegg, The Calgary Straight, Sept. 2/99)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - Live (C'est What Apr. 2002) - Booth performed a string of beautifully endearing love songs that would make even the most jaded girl melt. Musically, there are traces of a poppier Snailhouse or Elliott Smith but Booth's real charm comes from his character. Throughout the entire set, he swayed back and forth constantly changing his stance. It almost seemed as though he was attempting to find just the right footing to completely devote his time to his songs. Booth managed a feat that few people can pull off; silencing the crowd with only a voice and guitar. It's pretty amazing to see dozens of faces in tune to similar emotion. It has to be humbling for this singer-songwriter, to be able to make or break someone's spirits using only his words and a melody. (Neil Haverty, Chartattack) |
