Artist History
Here you will find the Uncle Otto basics: Since 1995 Uncle Otto has been swinging the ax, mixing the palate, turning the crank, and shagging the musical floozy. The Los Angeles trio was signed before their first show. Dumped after their first album. Self produced a second LP. Danced their way from the L.A. club scene to Canada and back. Evolved from a lean maniacal three piece to a full blown Vegas style multimedia event, complete with go-go dancers and blow-up dolls while working their way right back to the verge of national prominence. Raw42 says “They've got the tunes down, they rock, they have an attitude and they look good. What more does one need?” |

Press Reviews
Hirewire Daze August/September 1998Kenneth MortonUncle Otto could be your wise old relation who tells you clever tales oflove and life that make you thing. In this case, Uncle Otto is a Los Angelesband that does the same thing. The songs contained on MEN WHO SMOKE are catchierthan hell and the lyrics ooze with clever cynicisms. You'll want to listento this disc over and over again, following the printed words for maximumimpact.Vocalist Grant Langston (who also plays the guitar) is quite a character, spewing out witticisms in a biting fashion. Check out the virtual menu ofchicks listed in Susan or the political satire of Texarkana, TX. for asample of Langston's ingenious writing.Bassist Rich Fowler and drummer Derek Stuart keep the rhythm sectionpounding away in a grand and reckless manner. Citing influences as varied as TheClash,Mudhoney and Merle Haggard, Uncle Otto is quite a find for anybody who'sgetting sick and tired of the same old crummy shit being played on theradio! |
