Artist description
Tavé Hu's unique fusion of folk, funk, rock and junk has elevated the five-piece UMass at Amherst act to Five-College novelty. Crammed coffeehouses, packed college gigs, live acoustic gigs on WMUA, and a sold-out bus tour all have contributed to Tavé Hu's exponentially rising fanbase. The band's independent debut "Live in the Fire" was highly praised by 'Sunday Live' host Fred Shade of WSBS Radio, among others. Tavé Hu continues this frenzy with its 2000 release appropriately named (due to the reoccurring question always asked upon hearing the band's name for the first time) Tavay Who? |

Artist History
Tave Hu, yiddish for "extremely pleasurable music" began playing music for their own enjoyment in the summer of 1998. Shortly after the band's inception, others began listening to the sessions. It became quite apparent that to keep all the tunes locked up in the drummer's basement would not be right. The first show was actually at a nursing home in central Massachusetts...the old ladies were "bopping in their wheelchairs." An old man named Roger, who was at one time a great jazz pianist, informed the band after their first performance that he knew they have what it takes to make it. They took Roger's words to heart...and they're on their way. With the help of many dedicated family members, friends and fans, they have been able to progress to larger, slightly younger venues than that first fateful nursing home. They're planning on returning, though, to their geriatric routes, to say "thank you" to those nice old folks that turned up their hearing aids on that summer day. |
