Artist description
There's a diversity of influences to our music which sometimes provides a little different groove from song to song. Yet there remains a common underlying thread that runs throughout, so you never disconnect. |

Music Style
'Hippie Jazz' was a term one fan used to describe our style. What is that? We're not quite sure either, but if you hear us you too might use that term. Our music uses elements of several styles such as jazz, folk, Spanish, rock and ethereal. |

Artist History
PMM officially formed around March of 1996 when the three of us got together. The intent from the very beginning was to write and perform original compositions. We found that our union really gelled as we began working on songs. As things started coming together we found ourselves in our respective roles of Jon on lead vocals, Eric on acoustic rhythm guitar and backing/lead vocals, and Michael on acoustic and classical lead guitar. By September we released a five song cassette demo which we recorded ourselves in our then home studio. It actually had programmed drums but no one who bought a copy seemed to mind. We completely sold out of that tape and felt very good about it. Come December we added a drummer who at the time didn't have a kit, so initially he played congas. We began recording our self-titled CD around June of 1997. By the time we released it in May of 1998 we had enlisted a percussionist and bass player. Then a couple months later we took in the flutist who had also performed on the CD. And so we grew to seven members and performed together until September of 1999 at which time we played our last gig in this line-up. The three of us began writing and working on new tunes this year, and we're looking forward to performing them before existing and new PMM fans. Perhaps another CD is somewhere down the line. |

Press Reviews
Here's part of an actual review... "they have managed to create an interesting relaxing sound. I think these guys are going places and very soon". - Knight's Revenge. The rest are listener comments (which we think are better anyway)... You certainly have your own unique sound which unfolds new layers of sound with each listen. I will tell my friends about you and wish you all the best. // I love the cd. Excellent song writing, vocals and musicianship. // What a talented group! // Brilliant local band, the best I've heard in years! // I was sitting here this morning listening to my new Purple Mountain Matinee CD and the word that comes to mind is... HAPPY!!! // About your CD... The Perfect Eclectic Mix. // The CD really sounds great... we're already looking forward to the next one. // I haven't felt like this since I went to a Grateful Dead concert. |
