Artist History
The brothers Stainbrook did some jamming as far back as 1994, however the Midwest-based band, Mad Cow Disease, actually first began with the addition of a drummer in the Fall of 1996. Their first original song written was O.W.I., as a driver's education project. Soon the group sought out and added a lead guitar player. In their first year, they wrote over 15 original songs, lost and replaced the lead guitarist, recorded eleven of their originals for MCD's "Epidemic" CD, and performed 'live' 28 times. Since that year, the now seasoned band has continued to write and record enough music to produce several more CD's. MCD scaled back to a trio during the Summer of 1998, with each of the brothers taking turns at the drums, or playing their music with recorded drum trax. Neither felt impared by the diminished band size, writing some of their most popular new material as a collection of separately recorded tracks. Their second album "Virus" continues the attack on strong bass lines, haunting melodies, and a pop-type mix with keyboards and drum trax. "Big Guy" joined the group, after they once again lost their lead guitarist. BG brought with him a variety of skills as a vocalist and keyboard player. The band has toured the Midwest and Florida, and also appeared on the first mp3.com Music & Technology Tour!
"Prion" is the most recent collection of songs produced by this constantly working power rock band. Even though is only has eight songs, judging by fan reaction, it is by
far their best effort to date. |

Press Reviews
10/11/99 - "My attention was drawn to Mad Cow Disease
by their merchandise. The band was handing out stuffed
cows with their trademark "MCD" imprinted upon them.
A young trio with an uncanny marketing sense,
Mad Cow Disease is bound to go places, thanks to
their contagious songs and refreshing creativity.
Jen McInnes, Tour Reporter, MP3.com Music&Tech Tour.
