Artist description brainiacsDAUGHTER is an exciting new band that combines the substance of guitar-driven modern-rock with the energetic dance-impelling rush of techno. The group is fronted by lead singer and keyboardist Kjo, a fiery-eyed red-head who's known for staring down her prey at live shows. Her striking vocals fuel their unique hard-edged Euro-sound with a distinctive voice of definitive range and passionate delivery. Kjo is already drawing comparisons ranging from Chrissy Hynde and Siouxsie Sioux, of which both singers have an attitude that screams from the speakers, producing an air of confident defiance. Kjo's distinctiveness is in her ability to look and sound sultry yet write in-your-face lyrics that are anything but polished and pretty. Co-founded by Ellic, lead guitarist who plays like U2's Edge and looks like a millennium version of Billy Idol, the band fuses together a compelling and contemporary blend of rock elements with trashing guitar and stylish lyrics.

Imagine Garbage if they dropped out about 1/3 of their industrial learning's and headed in a somewhat classic sci-fi eerie-synth direction. Some of their guitar riffs are definitely schooled on classic '90s alt-rock a la the Offspring, but their overall sound is nowhere near as hard. Most of this record seems to be about different aspects of love, making it very easy for just about anyone to identify with.
