    Artist description
Independently released music like this is why I shed no tears for the supposed financial difficulties of the major labels. Picking up seamlessly where bands like REM and The Smithereens left off, The Frenetic WOW may be the greatest band you've never heard of. Why, because this undiscovered gem comes to you live from the small town of Portland, Maine. Their shows sell out, they've sold over 1,000 CD's in a town of only 60,000 people and they consistantly garner reviews and honors on a national and regional level. For comparison sake, a band from L.A. or New York would have to sell over 100,000 of their independent release to equal their small market success. And the songs are GREAT. "Undercover Aimless", "Shiny Plastic Future", "Dayglo" and more are all blaring away on the Top 40 radio stations of an alternate universe. So what are you waiting for? Jump on board with The "Frenetic" WOW! DJ Ray, College Radio Review

    Artist History
Recently, WOW was voted by readers of The Portland Phoenix as best pop rock act in the city. The band's second record, 'That Was Then, This Is WOW' is now available. Past recognition includes Undercurrents 98', showcase and compilation, Sonic Assembly 2000 compilation, 2001 Jim Beam Artist Development Grant Recipient the band has also performed several times with Smithereens Lead Singer Pat DiNizio. Recent sold-out performances have showcased the band's influences; in May the group performed a full 'A to B side' cover of the Beatles' album 'Revolver', and in November the band played full night of songs by The Who, as a tribute to the late John Entwistle and finally in January the group once again backed Smithereens frontman Pat Dinizio at a "Greatest Hits" performance. With a new album in the works now is the time for the "Frenetic" WOW!.
