Artist History
Formed from an advert in Mojo in 1994, the original band
featured an extra guitarist, Julie, who left after a year.
Our two albums were cut in the infamous Abbey Sound studios
in Rugeley, which happened to be right next to Steve's parents.
The studio is in the attic of a former Convent, and is rumoured
to be haunted by the ghost of a young novice. Unfortunately she
couldn't be persuaded to make a guest appearence on the tracks.
The Simpletons disbanded in 1998 due to a mixture
of personal problems, lack of alcohol and lack of
gigs. Steve Darling went on to move to Cologne in
Germany. Grant Patterson and Kevin Bignell occasionally
play together under the name the Fabulous Simpleton Brothers.
