Artist description
The expression "Progressive Metal Orchestra" is a pretty good description for the style of Sunblaze. Throughout the 10-15 minutes of playing time the songs are complex and versatile. They reveal the power and heaviness of a metal band in combination with soothing piano and string sections. The use of classical instruments (e.g. violin, clarinet, flute) and polyphonic choirs is a typical element for the sound of Sunblaze. These will be involved even more in forthcoming studio and live productions. |

Artist History
Sunblaze was founded in 1994 by Michèl Kalifa (bass), Martin Enke (guitar) and Jörg Enke (keyboards). Later Elisabeth Ramirez (violin), Matthias Pfaff (vocals) and Roland Weimer (drums) joined in to complete the line-up. The band was helped out during their first recordings by drummer Jochen Donauer. In autumn 1997 the band released the EP 'Illuminating Heights' with a playing time of 25 minutes to present an excerpt of their work so far. For this purpose the songs "Sunblaze" and "Distant Reaches" were recorded and mixed in the band's own studio. The CD is completely self-produced. |
