Artist History In everyday life Purple Shadow is called Han Uil. I once asked him why he chose "Purple Shadow" to be his artist name. He said: "Purple Shadow is the name of my electric guitar.That guitar and me are an unity. It's only natural that we share the same name." This unity played lead in several bands. His first band was "Vertical Reality" with whom he played for audiences up to 600 people. He did some strange things with this band, like playing a benefit concert at the highest level of a church tower, figuring as a living church-bell, in order to raise money for a new one. He wrote some outstandingsongs together with lead-singer and lyricist Philip Koning for this guitar driven alterna folk-rock-grunge-band.This collaboration has never ceased to exist. At this time he plays in the promising band "The Lounge". The songs are about life and everythingit's connected with: love, hatred, faith, relationships.Of course, these are the usual song subjects. But both Philip and Han are capable of giving each song it's unique style described by words and sentences of poetic craftsmanship. His musicalinfluences are very diverse. He's influenced alot by the musical simplicity of rock veterans like: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Nick Cave. On theother hand he likes the musical complexity ofbands and artists such as: Jethro Tull and Captain Beefheart. His musical style should besomewhere in between. "Music is a form of art.Art can be enjoyed. Art can hurt."
