This is a trio sonata for two flutes and continuo by Jacques Martin Hotteterre. It is typical of the early 18th century French style. The continuo here is MIDI, rendered with Timidity. The flutes are a pair of reproduction early French instruments by the Russian maker Felix Raudinikos. For an illustration and more information about these flutes, see the "Flutes" section on my Early Music page at http://webhome.idirect.com/~toot/flutes.html ... And BTW, it's me playing both of them - I recorded one part, then the other. |

This is Sarastro's aria "In diesen heil'gen Hallen" from Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, from an edition for flute published in 1792. It's played here on an antique flute made by William Henry Potter early in the 19th century. For an illustration and more information about this flute, see the "Flutes" section on my Early Music page at http://webhome.idirect.com/~toot/flutes.html |

More solo flute music... although originally written for the cello. Heard here are the Sarabande and Bourrées (Bourrée I and Bourrée II, en trio) from J. S. Bach's 4th Suite for Unaccompanied Cello. The flute is a Stanesby Junior reproduction made by Aulos of Japan - to see a picture and more info visit my "Flutes" page at http://webhome.idirect.com/~toot/flutes.html |
