Dreams of the Fall
To me, Dreams of the Fall means a longing for
something that has passed and a hope for
something to come. The fall represents that time
after ascension and the time before renewal. The
season itself represents the death of summer and
the birth of winter. It's about cycles of
emotions. It's about love and it's about hate.
It's about life and it's about death. Jason and
James both met during their respective terms with
the band Spitkiss. They began discussing ideas
for a new band, but it wasnt until spring of 1999
that they began working together musically. Their
search for a singer ended when Benja asked James
to help him record some material that he had been
working on. He was enthusiastic about what Jason
and James were working on and fell into the role
as the bands frontman. The band combines each
member's influences and musical vision to create
a sound that is dark and alluring as well as
powerful and emotionally-driven. Acoustic guitars
intermix with warm swells of electronics.
Electric guitars soar over harsh drum beats. The
lyrics deal in themes of love, loss, dreams,
hallucination and the supernatural. They are a
sharp contrast to other cookie-cutter bands who
merely copy whatever genre is the order of the
day.
