The title of this work, from Liszt's Annees de Pelerinages (years of Pilgrimage), is descriptive for its evocation of a vast storm. Its litany of octaves and arpeggios boldly threaten its ominous compositional skies. |

Kassandra. An Opera by Nicholas Zumbro. Scenes 4 and 5 , live performance. Loosely based on Agamemnon, the Kassandra deals with Agamamnon's return from Troy and the Queen's bloody revenge. In this scene, the Trojan captive princess, Kassandra, begins to sing of her terrible gift---to prophesy doom, never to be believed. The Queen suddenly arrives and her screaming disturbs the King, who first recalls the war, then demands submission from all, and from the women---silence. As he departs, the Queen throws the word after him, and she begins a bitter diatribe against him and against men Vowing to punish "the murderer" she seizes a great two-headed axe and slowly retreats into the Palace, murmering "the Bull awaits, he waits". |
