Damon Savich in SLASHER makeup, circa 1983
Early SLASHER flyer circa 1983
The band was originally formed by vocalist Damon Savich and drummer Charlie Rotenberry in 1982. Recruiting guitarist Darren Hohaus and bassist Lee Cobb, the group first performed as SLASHER at the Destin Seafood Rodeo, 1982.
This is an historical site chronicling SLASHER, a Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band which has gone through a twenty-year metamorphosis odyssey (see also "Endless Dream", "Damon Savich", and "ISCARIOT" at MP3.com) Charlie Rotenberry and Lee Cobb stayed behind as Damon and Darren took the band to California in early 1983. SLASHER underwent several incarnations over the period of ten years before calling it quits in 1992. Most of these songs are available here at MP3.com, and nowhere else. So enjoy!

A really heavy song with even heavier undertones. It spins the tale of a soldier who has watched everything and everyone he knows pass away. The rhythm calls to mind early JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN, which isn't surprising since the members of SLASHER were bottle-fed on that type of music. This song won a "Battle of the Bands" competition in a Country & Western Bar called "The Show Palace" during the formative days of the band. |

Bar chord rock song, in the tradition of AC/DC or KISS. This one was written by Sally Procter, prior to Damon Savich and Darren Hohaus bringing SLASHER to California, though they reworked it and it turned out pretty nicely. Uncharacteristic scream singing by Damon here, but let's face it,... he was eighteen when he cut this one. |
