Gil Goldstein will be performing as the Gil Goldstein Trio, featuring Alex Acuna on drums and percussion and David Carpenter on bass at Big Sur JazzFest 2000, May 5, 6, 7, 2000 in Big Sur, California. Visit the mp3 Big Sur JazzFest station or the official Big Sur JazzFest website for the complete lineup of artists this year.
Now, on to Gil. It's difficult to know where to begin describing Gil Goldstein. Given the fact that he he produces albums (cd's) writes film scores, scores television shows and cartoons, and is one of the best jazz arrangers in the industry evidenced by the fact that he has toured with nearly every jazz luminary of our time. So I'll preface this with the fact that Goldstein will be bringing a hand picked trio to the Big Sur JazzFest 2000 that includes Alex Acuna on drums and Brian Bromberg on bass. The rest will speak for itself.
Gil plays in a variety of styles, and has performed with Sting, Gil Evans, Jim Hall, Billy Cobham, Miles Davis... and on and on to the point where one thinks that the reference should go the other way... that these people have played with Gil!
Lately Gil has been the in-demand accordianist on many recordings. From tango music to Pat Metheny, Gil is bringing the accordian into the mainstream with his recent CD The World Accordian to Gil.
Among other skills, Gil arranged, produced and performed on Randy Brecker's Into the Sun on Concord Records, a 1998 Grammy award winning album. Miles Davis and Quincy Jones did an album, Miles Davis and Quincy Jones play music by Gil Evans of which Gil Goldstein performed on. As you can see, there isn't enough room on this website so visit the Big Sur JazzFest website for a larger list of credits and achievements.
