The story of Corporate greed vs. Freedom Once upon a time, five giants started a sect called the Aair. They controlled all the knowledge on earth, enslaved writers and told them what to write. They dictated what people were allowed to learn and forbid anyone to teach or even memorize what they had read. Every time someone wanted to learn something new, he/she had to pay a fortune for books containing a few well known tales, many boring lies, and some blank pages. Those who couldn't afford to pay were left with nothing but a few preachers from that sect who kept rambling and repeating themselves all day long. Consequently, almost everyone eventually became very dull and dumb, to the point of believing that those books were bibles containing the only truth on earth. One day, a little elf called Retspan defied the sect and started reading the books aloud and passing them around. Day by day, more and more people started memorizing and sharing the stories, slowly realizing that they had been had: The books weren't all that great after all. As it became so easy to spread the word, some writers, who until then had been oppressed and suppressed by the giants, came forth and offered their writing to everyone. The people liked it and wanted more of the fresh truth and less of the old lies. A writer-slave-disciple, named Acillatem, found out about it and told it to the giants who became very mad and scared. They whined and cried, yelled and screamed, blamed and threatened, but it made no difference. The giants felt so useless and compromised, they complained to the ruler of the land, claiming that the welfare of their sect was more important than freedom and knowledge. The elf had to be stopped. The ruler didn't know what to do, time passed, knowledge kept spreading, so the giants insisted that the sect was losing valuable ignorance by the minute, and the ruler ruled: The elf was forbidden from ever talking again, unless he spread lies and charged people to listen to him, to pay the sect. The giants won... Or did they? While they were busy going after that one elf, the people started looking around for other elves and found many more such as Alletung, Retsma and then some. In the end, it's the readers and the true writers who really won. Now people know what there is to learn, how to memorize and share, and writers know that there are people everywhere who want to learn from them and that they have a place to go to. Here alone, in the auditorium of moc.3pm, there is thousands of writers like myself, sharing it all with you. Knowledge has been set free, forever. So, you may ask, what happened to the giants?
